A teenager from Khayelitsha has drowned at a beach in Strand
The
NSRI’s Craig Lambinon said lifeguards initiated a search for the 17-year-old
who was initially reported missing between Topaz apartments and the Strand Pump
station
“During an extensive search
rescue teams were alerted by a public member who had come across a person
unresponsive in shallow water along the beach front.
The teenager, age 17, from
Khayelitsha, was recovered from the water where paramedics sadly declared the
teenager deceased.” said Lambinon.
The body of the teenager has
been taken into the care of Police and Government Health Forensic Pathology
Services.
Police have opened an Inquest
docket.
Lambinon conveyed condolences
to the family of the teenager.
