Suspects in custody for possession of false registration number plates and stolen goods.

Four suspects were arrested this week for being in possession of false registration number plates and stolen goods.

On Thursday, police members received information of a white Hyundai, which was involved in an armed robbery in Goodwood earlier. The members responded to the information upon which they spotted the mentioned vehicle driving in Jakes Gerwel Road.

In as much as the vehicle tried running away members managed to give chase and stop the vehicle.

The Police’s Anelisiwe Manyana said the two suspects tried running away on foot but members apprehended them.

Upon searching the vehicle, members found registration plates in the vehicle which are believed to have been used to commit crime. Members also recovered a purse containing stolen bank and ID cards.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspects are linked to seven armed robberies committed in Woodstock, Elsies River, Goodwood and Parow. The Two suspects aged 30 and 37 were detained at Goodwood SAPS.” Manyana.

In another incident on the same day, members of Maitland Flying Squad were on the lookout for a Mercedes Benz motor vehicle with false registration plates in Cape Town area. The members followed up information and found the vehicle in Rondebosch area where they pulled over and searched the vehicle. Members discovered false registration plates, a substantial quantity of bankcards and point of sales devices inside the vehicle.

Two suspects, aged 35 and 42 years, were arrested and detained at Rondebosch SAPS.

“The four suspects will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates Court, once charged on the mentioned charges.” Anelisiswe Manyana.
