Police said they were called to the harbour shortly after 8 am, after police divers discovered the bodies of a man and a woman, believed to be Polish nationals in their seventies, in the water.

‘’At this early stage, foul play is not suspected. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause of death, although drowning is considered the most likely cause,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut, Western cape police spokesperson.

He says the identities of the deceased are being withheld pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.
