Newborn found in wheelie bin in Khayelitsha

The body of a baby was discovered inside a garbage wheelie bin in iLitha Park in Khayelitsha.

Police spokesperson Anelisiwe Manyana said: “Lingelethu West police opened an inquest docket for further investigation following the discovery of the body of a baby on Thursday in Mthawelanga Street, iLitha Park.

According to reports police members attended to a complaint and upon arrival at the crime scene they found the body of a baby inside a bin.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Manyana added “We appeal to anyone who may information regarding this incident to please contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111."
