The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape has condemned the hijacking and shooting of five traffic officials in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain. One of the officers was left injured when he and his colleagues were attacked on Wednesday.
The ANC says the incident is a direct attack on the safety
of people who dedicate their lives to protecting communities.
‘’We condemn this cowardly act in the strongest terns and
extend our solidarity to the injured officer, PI Booi, who is currently
receiving medical care, as well as to his colleagues who endured thus harrowing
ordeal, Our gratitude goes to the first responders, medical personnel, and SAPS
for their swift intervention,’’ said Ayanda Bans, ANC chief whip in the Western
Cape Legislature,
Bans called on the police to leave no stone unturned in
their investigations of the incident.
‘’Every resource must be deployed to ensure the hijacked
vehicle is recovered and all perpetrators are brought to justice, We demand
heightened visibility and proactive policing hotspots areas to prevent such
attacks on law enforcement officers and civilians alike
Bush Radio News reached out to the Western Cape’s Mobility
department for comment

internal processed - we may only be able to release something after the
investigation,’’ said Muneera Alie, Western Cape Mobility Department
