Woman accused of burbning down Joshlin's home released on bail

The 27-year-old woman accused of burning down Kelly Smith’s home in Middelpos in Saldahna Bay has been granted bail.

Monique Kekana appeared in the Vredenburg Magistrate’s court on Monday

Kekana, who was released for R500, allegedly set the house on fire hours after Smith and her two co-accused were found guilty of kidnapping and human trafficking then-six-year-old Joshlin Smith. She faces arson charges.

The case was postponed to 27 June 2025

Speaking to eNCA, Kekana says she set the house on fire in anger.
