Fast-food outlet in Mitchells Plain robbed of undisclosed amount of cash

Four suspects left with an undisclosed amount of cash after they robbed a fast-food restaurant in Mitchells Plain on Sunday morning.

Western Cape police confirmed to Bush Radio News that the incident occurred at Burger King, situated on Morgenster road.

‘’Reports suggested that two unidentified armed males entered a business premises on Sunday 08 June 2025. When the employer approached the door of the food outlet, he noticed two more males. The suspects forced him back into the store and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe and fled the scene after they tied the employees. No shots was fired. Lentegeur police registered a case of business robbery,’’ said Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, Western Cape police spokesperson.

In an unrelated matter and a man was shot and killed in Bellville-South following a failed robbery. Police said a man allegedly attempted to rob another individual last week, but the incident turned fatal when the intended victim drew a licensed firearm and shot the suspect, who died at the scene.

“Reports at our disposal indicate that the deceased robbed a man of his belongings. When he wanted to take the man’s wallet, this man drew his licensed firearm and shot the suspect. The person of interest then informed Bellville South SAPS and waited at the crime scene. Bellville South registered a case of murder. A post-mortem will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation,’’ said Swartbooi.
