The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) says double-parked spots by parents with multiple offers for Grade R, 1, or 8 placements for the 2026 academic year have now been auto-confirmed to top-ranked schools.
Parents and guardians
had until Tuesday to confirm the schools of choice freeing up thousands of
places. The WCED urged parents to stay in touch with schools in case additional
places are opened:
‘’Schools will then
continue to fill remaining places until the end of July, so we encourage
parents who do not yet have a place to stay in touch with the schools they have
applied to in case additional places have opened up. We urge parents who have
not yet received an offer to not be disheartened, as we are still very early in
the placement process for 2026,’’ said Kerry Mauchline, spokesperson for
Education MEC, David Maynier.
