Girl (6) succumbs to Wallacedene fire

A six-year-old girl has succumbed to burn wounds after a fire broke out in Wallacedene,  on Tuesday morning.

The City of Cape Town’s Fire & rescue service spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, said crews attended to informal structures alight in Maroela Road, just after 10a.m

‘’Fire crews from Kraaifontein, Bellville, Brackenfell and Milnerton Fire Stations attended to the scene and immediately ensured that they minimise damage by the blaze. By 12:20, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire that destroyed approximately 20 Informal structures and left 60 to 80 persons displaced.’’

Sadly, the body of a six years old minor was discovered with fatal burn wounds and was certified deceased by medical personnel. The South African Police Service took control of the scene and will conduct further investigations to ascertain the cause of this fire,’’ he added.
