A 51-year-old suspect will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on Thursday after the foreign national was caught with 4 600 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R230 000.
In a statement, police said they received information on
Tuesday about a vehicle distributing drugs in Site B, Khayelitsha.
‘’At approximately 13:30, they spotted the vehicle in
Buyani Getrude Shope Street. The vehicle was stopped and searched and on the
floor of the front passenger side, a bag with mandrax tablets was found. Further
investigations led the members to the suspect’s residence in Tennyson Street,
Mandalay, where they discovered a shopping bag with mandrax tablets stored
inside a fridge in a garage. The 51-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested
for dealing in drugs,’’ said Anelisiwe Manyana, Western Cape police
spokesperson.
