The Cape Flats Safety Forum says it will hold government accountable as soon as the safety plan has been finalised.
It reacted and attended to a stakeholder meeting in
Mitchell’s Plain over the weekend, which served as a platform for dialogue and
practical collaboration, focusing on the development and implementation of the
Mitchells Plain Safety and Development Plan, in response to the recent surge in
gang violence in the suburb
‘’As the Cape Flats Safety forum, we have been partnered to
draft a safety plan for Mitchell’s Plain. This safety plan is a whole of
society approach, and will keep government accountable as soon as the draft is
finalised, because there is key outcomes and deliverance that needs to be done
in a matter of urgency so we can look at broader safety and security in and
around the Mitchell’s Plain area,’’ said Abie Isaacs, Cape Flats Safety Forum
chairperson.
At the same time, Western Cape Police Oversight and
Community Safety MEC, Anroux Marais has extended her gratitude to all
stakeholders
“Together, we have taken vital steps towards shaping a
safer and more prosperous future for the residents of Mitchells Plain. I thank
all stakeholders for their constructive input, unwavering support, and
continued dedication to ensuring that Mitchells Plain becomes a place where all
residents can feel safe and thrive.”
‘’The Western Cape Department of Police Oversight and
Community Safety looks forward to ongoing collaboration as we move from
planning to action, guided by our shared vision of safer communities through
inclusive partnerships,’’ she added.
