Jerome Booysen and 2 others accused were secretly monitored by Crime Intelligence for the past 10 years

Evidence presented in the Western Cape High Court today showed alleged underworld figures Jerome Booysen and the deceased, Mark Lifman and Andre Naude were being monitored by the Crime Intelligence division since 2015.

Booysen and 11 others are on trial for the murder of Brian Wainstein. Lifman and Naude, along with three other accused in the matter, have been killed since the trial started early last year.

A Crime intelligence colonel testified earlier today about cellphone recordings extracted from the phones of alleged underworld figures: Booysen, Naude and Mark Lifman.

The state presented the court with a CD containing recordings of the intercepted calls last week. However, when the State attempted to play the recordings in court, the file containing the phone calls was found to be corrupted.

One of the files saved on the CD shows that crime intelligence officers were monitoring Booysen, Naude and Lifman's calls since 2015.
