Man arrested for tik worth more than half a million rand in Vredendal

West Coast police arrested a 34-year-old suspect last night after he was found with tik with an estimated street value of almost R 540 000.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, said officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Vredendal.

‘’The members used the information to their benefit when they entered a residence Mangaung, Vredendal North at about 20:30 and searched the entire premises. Driven by adrenaline they took time ensure that they do not miss anything which might seem to be irrelevant. One of the members noticed a bag behind the fridge, which drew his attention. They opened the bag in the presence of the home owner and recovered a quantity of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of almost R 540 000,’’ said Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, Western Cape police spokesperson.

The foreign national was arrested for dealing in drugs and is expected to appear in the Vredendal Magistrates court, soon.
