Two suspects shot at Bokini and his colleague, who were off duty at the time, both stationed at Bishop Lavis SAPS, were sitting in a white VW Polo in Philippi.

‘’The matter was investigated by the Hawks' National Priority Violent Crime (NPVC) team and the accused was eventually arrested on 21 May 2024 after a warrant of arrest was issued. He was in custody until his sentence,’’ said Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, Hawks spokesperson in the Western Cape.

Nondaka was sentenced to 47 years imprisonment after he entered into a plea agreement with the state.

The sentence was handed down as follows:

Count 1: murder of police official: twenty-eight (28) years imprisonment.

Count 2: attempted murder of police official: eight (8) years imprisonment.

Count 3: possession of unlicensed firearm: eight (8) years imprisonment.

Count 4: illegal possession of ammunition: three (3) years imprisonment.

The court ordered that sentences imposed on counts 2 to 4 will run concurrently with the sentence imposed on count 1.  The accused will effectively serve 28 years direct imprisonment.

The Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks in the Western Cape, Brigadier Ramovha expressed his satisfaction with the sentence and commended both the investigation and the prosecution teams in ensuring that the perpetrator does not go unpunished.
