Toyota South Africa has announced the recall of 78 Hino 700 Series trucks due to a faulty fuel pump.
The affected trucks were sold between December 2024 and 30
June 2025.
“Toyota informed the NCC that the recall is due to a fuel
pump housing that has an inappropriate surface treatment process done during
production. Cracks may develop when repeated high load is applied to the supply
pump, leading to a fuel leak. The Hino 700 series trucks were sold nationwide,”
said Phetho Ntaba, National Consumer Commission spokesperson.
Owners of the affected trucks have been urged to take their
vehicles to any Toyota dealership for free inspections and replacement.
“Your safety comes first when it comes to any product
safety recall in South Africa,” said Ntaba, adding that manufacturers have an
obligation under the Consumer Protection Act to ensure that they produce
products that are safe and free of defects.
