A City of Cape Town traffic officer has been found alive on Friday morning, after his vehicle was found abandoned earlier the day. The vehicle of the off-duty officer was discovered on Baden Powell Drive.
‘’A City Traffic Officer on patrol came across a vehicle
along Baden Powell Drive just before 06:30. The vehicle was empty, but the
officer noticed blood stains and that the key had been broken off in the
ignition,’’ said Maxine Bezuidenhout, City of Cape Town Traffic Service
spokesperson.
‘’The officer has been found. He is injured, but alive and
has indicated that he was assaulted and robbed. SAPS will investigate the circumstances
around the incident,’’ she added.
Western Cape police confirmed to Bush Radio News that they
are investigating the matter.
‘’Mitchells Plain police members were alerted by Traffic of
an abandoned vehicle at the corners of Baden Powel and Eisleben Roads, Mitchells
Plain. Members of Mitchells Plain and Western Cape K9 Unit immediately
responded to the complaint and on arrival found the vehicle. They did a search
in the nearby bushes, looking for clues, when a 30 year old male later came to
the members and explained that he was assaulted and robbed. Circumstances
surrounding this incident are under investigation,’’ said Captain F.C Van Wyk,
Western Cape police spokesperson.
