An 18-year-old schoolboy was shot dead during an alleged attempted robbery of a delivery vehicle on Thursday. A group of armed men allegedly ambushed the courier driver and his assistant in Gugulethu.
The courier driver told the police that the suspects stole
their cell phones and tried to hijack the vehicle. His assistant then
retaliated and fired shots, killing the 18-year-old and injuring another
suspect, who is now under police guard in the hospital.
‘’ Gugulethu SAPS members attended to a shooting incident on Thursday, 2025-10-30 at about 10:15 in Godongwana Street, Lusaka, Gugulethu… A 9mm firearm without a serial number was found next to the body of the deceased. This firearm was handed in as an exhibit. The firearm which was used by the driver’s assistant, a Rossi revolver was confiscated and handed in as exhibit and further processing,’’ said Captain F.C van Wyk, Western Cape police spokesperson.
Gugulethu police registered an inquest case for investigation. Motive is believed to be robbery
