About a hundred pro-Palestine supporters have gathered outside Parliament to urge the South African government to cut all ties with Israel.
The protest follows the Israeli Navy’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which included ten South Africans, among them Nelson Mandela's grandson, Mandla Mandela.
The protesters are also calling for the safe return of the passengers captured by Israel.
Mothers For Gaza co-ordinator Ayesha Vegas helped organise today's protest outside Parliament. "So we are here today to put pressure on our government to do more for our civilians that have been abducted by apartheid Israel."
The protest is part of a national campaign by pro-Palestine supporters to end the conflict in Gaza.
