Bonteheuwel ward councillor, Angus Mackenzie, identified the
boy as Luke Peterson, a young resident of Bonteheuwel. He noted that the
incident has left the community is pain, with him personally being impacted,
having known the boy.
‘’This one hits very close to home — not only is the family
personally known to me, but I have had the privilege of meeting Luke on
numerous occasions. To see a young life, so full of joy and innocence, taken so
soon is absolutely heartbreaking. To the Peterson family, you have my deepest
and most heartfelt condolences. I have spoken with you, and I want you to know
that we will do everything possible to support you through this very, very
difficult time. May Luke’s beautiful little soul rest in peace, and may the
family find strength and comfort in the love that surrounds them tonight,’’
said McKenzie.
