Cape Town taxi association CODETA said that it's glad to have its minibus taxis operating again between Khayelitsha, Mfuleni, and Somerset West.

A 30-day court ordered shutdown of certain taxi routes on this corridor came to an end on Friday.

These measures were implemented following taxi-related violence linked to a feud between taxi rivals CODETA and CATA over these routes.

Alternative transport services were made available for affected commuters.

CODETA spokesperson Makhosandile Tumana said "You know now we have to work hard to convince our commuters to come back to us. But currently we are operating, and we will put a very sharp eye to ensure that we operate with peace and harmony. Our working committee is there for 24 hours to ensure that there are no challenges and that our commuters are travelling with peace and harmony."
