Cape Town Fire Services has responded to a call of a possible fire at the V&A Waterfront this morning.
Smoke was seen coming from the roof of a restaurant at the mall after 10am this morning.
Staff from the restaurant situated near the clock tower were sitting and waiting outside the building, while the restaurant's floor is flooded from emergency sprinklers. There’s still a strong smoke and burning in the air.
According to eyewitnesses at around 10:30, staff were asked to evacuate due to a possible fire above the restaurant.
V&A Waterfront Management has confirmed the situation has been contained and the area remains cordoned off until further notice.
