Government, industry experts and key stakeholders will come together in Fourways, Gauteng, later this month, for a two-day indaba to engage over governance, accountability and inclusive development in communal housing.
The Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) initiated the
Indaba as a standing platform for engagement and education around community
schemes such as sectional title bodies, homeowners’ associations, share-block
companies, retirement villages and housing cooperatives.
The third annual CSOS indaba aims to explore governance challenges
in community schemes, to share best practices, opening
space for dialogue on dispute resolution, compliance and reform, amongst
others.
The theme “Sustainable Governance: Shared Responsibility as
the Cornerstone of Community Schemes,’’ reminds us that community living is not
simply about infrastructure, but about systems, culture, transparency and
accountability.
Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, will
deliver the keynote address, with the intension to forge closer alignment
between national housing policy and the lived realities of community schemes.
