Athlone police station commander Junaid Alcock says he'll consider all the input made by community members ahead of Najwa Petersen's upcoming parole hearing.

The community met yesterday to discuss Petersen's possible release back to the community on parole.

The 63-year-old woman is serving a 28-year prison sentence for orchestrating the murder of her husband, Taliep Pietersen, in 2006. Her parole hearing is expected to take place later this month.

The community of Athlone is divided over the possible release of convicted murderer Najwa Pietersen on parole. Some believe she's served her time and deserves a second chance, while others feel she's shown no remorse and should stay behind bars.

Alcock said "It actually made my work to draft this report much easier because now I have a lot of feelings about how the community feels like."

Alcock said he'll present his report to the board next week.
