City of Cape Town Supports Parliament's Probe into Surge in Violent Crime

The City of Cape Town is backing Parliament's decision to investigate the surge in violent crime, particularly the mass shootings that have claimed lives and left others injured this year.

The police believe these incidents are linked to gang violence, extortion, and taxi-related conflicts. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis is eager to collaborate with Parliament's investigation

“The city will participate enthusiastically into the parliament committee’s work. We will put a national spotlight on the urgent solutions we have been calling for: more policing powers for city offices and more resources for SAPS” said Geordin-Hill.
