Hit-and-run attack on GBV protestors in Cape Town

Western Cape police are probing an incident whereby a man and a woman were injured during a protest in Observatory last week.

The incident occurred where demonstrations were held for anti=gender based violence as part of organisation Women For Change. In videos gone viral, it can been seen how the driver intentionally drove through a crowd along the Mian road

Police said a case of reckless and negligent driving is being investigated

Meanwhile, The GOOD Party says law enforcement must track down the perpetrator and arrest him

‘’Law enforcement must track down the perpetrator and arrest him. True accountability is non-negotiable. Our legal system must send a clear message that violence, especially violence carried out on a day meant to confront GBV, will not be tolerated,’’ said Roscoe palm, GOOD Cape Town Councillor.

‘’There is no excuse for using a vehicle as a weapon against unarmed civilians exercising their right to protest. It reveals a mindset that treats human life as disposable and trivialises the trauma women face daily. When people feel entitled to harm others without consequence, women and vulnerable groups pay the highest price. Standing against GBV means confronting every form of violence that chips away at our humanity,’’ he added.
