Fourth accused in Khayelitsha cash-in-transit heist rearrested

The case against a fourth suspect involved in a foiled cash-in transit heist in Khayelitsha in August 2024, resumes next week. Cassiem Isaac Feni, 38, was rearrested by the Hawks in Moorreesburg on Sunday after he was seen driving in a white Ford Ranger.

Provincial spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, said his arrest comes after the team acted on information about the whereabouts of the suspect which led to his arrest .

It is reported that, 38-year old Cassiem Isaac Feni, had been arrested following a shootout with police during August 2024, during which eight of his accomplices were killed. Feni, was among five others arrested during a joint operation in Town Two.

He appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrate Court on Monday on a series of charges, including possession of illegal firearms, explosives and attempted murder. The matter has been remanded to 22 December 2025 for legal representative.

Feni is the fourth accused arrested in the matter. Three of his co-accused -  Sihle Mabhongo, Simphiwe Mzanywa and Tebogo Maluke -  are still in custody since their arrests respectively.  The matter against the trio, was remanded to 4 February 2026 for a Regional Court date.
