Taxi driver sought for evading a traffic stop and colliding with two traffic patrol vehicles on the N7 near Potsdam Road
Officers are on the hunt for a taxi driver in a reckless and negligent driving case, after the driver allegedly refused to stop during a traffic stop on Koeberg Road, and sped off towards the N1 on Sunday.
The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Service spokesperson, Kevin
Jacobs, explained that the officer called for assistance and in his efforts to
get away, the driver of the minibus taxi collided with two Traffic patrol
vehicles on the N7 near Potsdam Road.

vehicles on the N7 near Potsdam Road. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and
ran away – leaving behind eight passenger who sustained slight injuries. Four
traffic officers too sustained slight injuries.’’
‘’The City condemns the actions of the driver in question –
his disregard for law and order will not be tolerated. Officers have tracked down
the vehicle owner and are working to find the driver – the taxi has been
impounded and will not be released until the suspect is caught,’’ added Jacobs.
