Christmas Day ended tragically for three people after they were fatally shot in Nyanga. Another was left critically injured.

a residence in Mplangeni Street, in Ofcon Hostel, where two unknown suspects
allegedly entered a single-room structure and opened fire on the occupants. The
victims who succumbed to their injuries are estimated to be between 25 and 40
years of age.
‘’The South African Police Service in the Western Cape
strongly condemns the violent attack that claimed the lives of three people and
left another critically injured in Nyanga on the evening of Wednesday, 25
December 2025… Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack is possibly
linked to revenge or an attempt to eliminate a witness. This remains subject to
further investigation,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut, Western Cape police
spokesperson.
‘’No arrests have been made at this stage. The case is
under investigation by detectives attached to the Provincial Serious and
Violent Crimes Unit, who are pursuing all leads to apprehend the suspects. SAPS
condemns this senseless act of violence in the strongest terms and reiterates
its commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice. Police visibility in
the area has been intensified,’’ he added.
