Panic erupted outside Wynberg Magistrates Court on Thursday morning as Western Cape police received a call from an unknown person and told the police that there would be a car with a bomb outside the court.
‘’The police immediately alerted Wynberg police, Radio
Control, the Bomb Disposal and K9 Unit. After a thorough search was done around
12:50 at Wynberg Magistrate’s Court and the nearby streets, nothing was found.
Investigation regarding this case continues,’’ said Thembakazi Mpendukana,
Western Cape police spokesperson.
Police confirmed that a bomb threat case was opened at
Wynberg police station following a tip off call that was received by Woodstock
SAPS on Thursday.
A similar call was made about a bomb planted on one of the
floors inside the court in December 2025
