Residents in ward 104 - which covers Du Noon - who are eligible to vote, are urged to register and/or update their registration details this weekend for the upcoming municipal by-elections that is scheduled on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. The vacancies in this ward arose following the resignation of the ward councillor.
All registration stations in the wards will be open between
8a.m and 5p.m on both Saturday and Sunday. According to the IEC, of the eight
voting districts, there are 16 740 registered voters in this area. Citizens
aged 16 years and older (only voters who are 18 or older can vote on voting
day) residing in the affected wards are encouraged to visit the registration
stations.
To register, eligible voters in the affected wards must
present either a Green barcoded ID book, a Smartcard ID, or a valid Temporary
Identity Certificate (TIC).
‘’Following the Registration Weekend, voter registration
will continue online on the official IEC website www.elections.org.za and in person, at the
IEC local offices during office hours until Friday, 13 February 2026, when the Voters’ Roll for the
By-elections closes,’’ said Michael Hendrickse, IEC Western Cape head.
Voters can also check their registration details by SMSing
their ID number to 32810 (R1 per SMS) or
WhatsApp “Hi” to the IEC Chatbot on 060 088 0000.
‘’The Proclamation of the By-Elections is scheduled for
Friday, 13 February 2026, which will also mark the opening of Candidate
Nominations for those wishing to contest the by-elections,’’ said Hendrickse.
