TAXI INDUSTRY ANNOUNCES FURTHER FARE INCREASES DUE TO FUEL PRICE HIKE

The taxi industry has called on commuters to prepare for another increase in fares following recent fuel price hikes.

Industry leaders say rising fuel costs have made the adjustments unavoidable, with operators already increasing fares last month and set to implement another increase this month.
According to the announcement, local taxi trips will increase by between R2 and R6, while long-distance trips will go up by between R10 and R30.

The South African National Taxi Council says the industry is under significant financial pressure as fuel prices continue to rise, directly impacting operating costs.
Commuters are being urged to plan ahead as the new fares take effect.
