Police in the Western Cape have confiscated three prohibited firearms and arrested two suspects in separate operations yesterday, as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal firearms in the province.
In the first incident, the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team, working alongside the Counterfeit and Illicit Policing Team, acted on intelligence regarding suspected drug activity at a house in Kraaifontein. The operation resulted in the seizure of a firearm and the arrest of a suspect.
In a separate operation in Samora Machel, police arrested a 42-year-old man after discovering two 9mm pistols at his residence, following information received by authorities.
Police officials say these operations are part of ongoing efforts to reduce the proliferation of illegal firearms, which remain a key concern for public safety in the Western Cape. Authorities continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity and cooperate with law enforcement to help combat crime in their communities.
