Western Cape Welcomes Special Train Service Ahead of Cape Town Marathon

The Western Cape Department of Mobility has welcomed the introduction of a special train service ahead of this weekend’s Cape Town Marathon.

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, PRASA, will operate the service to assist runners and supporters travelling to and from the event.

The marathon is set to take place on Sunday, with the City of Cape Town expected to implement several road closures along the race route to manage traffic and ensure the safety of participants.

Provincial Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku has encouraged residents and spectators to make use of the train service to avoid congestion and traffic delays linked to the marathon.

Authorities say the additional rail service forms part of broader efforts to improve public transport access during major events and reduce pressure on the city’s road network.
