Mjuza Park residents in Gugulethu stopped My Citi work construction on Friday morning following four days without electricity.

According to a resident, My Citi contractors cut off water before and this week, it was power.

“It’s been a week, since Monday without power. They cut water and power. Now its been a week and they don’t care” said a resident

In response to this, residents gathered to stop every construction work.

“I no longer cook I have a disabled child, we can’t cook nor charge life has stopped”.

Residents say the contractors were accompanied by gunmen to protect them from residents. This was allegedly done to make sure that the protest was a peaceful one.

Bush Radio News reached to the City for comment, however, no response was granted.

However, in a turn of events, a few hours later power was restored. Does this mean protest is the only language power understands ?
