Golden Acre Set for Major Redevelopment in Cape Town CBD

One of Cape Town's most recognisable landmarks is set to undergo a major transformation as new owners unveil plans to redevelop the iconic Golden Acre into a vibrant mixed-use precinct.

The ambitious redevelopment project will reimagine the 24-storey building as a destination where people can live, work, shop and socialise. The revamped precinct will combine residential apartments, retail outlets, hospitality venues, co-working spaces and enhanced public areas, creating a lively environment that remains active throughout the day and into the evening.

A key feature of the redevelopment is the creation of more than 400 residential units, with the first apartments expected to be completed by October. The project aims to attract more residents to the city centre while supporting Cape Town's growing demand for urban living.

Developers also plan to improve safety and accessibility through enhanced security measures, better pedestrian access and stronger connections to public transport. These upgrades are intended to make the precinct more convenient and welcoming for residents, commuters and visitors alike.

The vision behind the redevelopment is to breathe new life into Cape Town's CBD by creating a modern, people-centred neighbourhood that reflects the city's evolving urban lifestyle. By combining housing, business, leisure and public spaces in one location, the project is expected to contribute to the continued revitalisation of the city centre.

As work progresses, the transformation of Golden Acre is expected to reshape one of Cape Town's busiest commercial hubs into a dynamic mixed-use destination for the future.
