Every year on 18 July, South Africans join people around the world in commemorating Nelson Mandela Day by dedicating 67 minutes of their time to serving others. The 67 minutes symbolise the 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted to fighting for freedom, equality and justice.
The annual campaign serves as a reminder of the challenges
many South Africans continue to face, including hunger, poverty and
unemployment. Organisations say Mandela Day provides an opportunity to
encourage more people to get involved in community service and make a
meaningful difference in the lives of others.
