The 26-year-old man from Salt River was reported missing on 10 July after he failed to arrive at his workplace in Grassy Park. His family had appealed for help to find him, while his disappearance gained attention on social media.

Police later confirmed that the man was not missing but had allegedly been avoiding arrest. According to police, he was wanted in connection with a sexual assault case reported at Diep River SAPS.

The man was arrested after returning home and appeared at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on 27 July. The case was postponed for a formal bail application.

The matter is being investigated by the Wynberg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

The accused is expected to return to court on 7 August.
