The situation was monitored by emergency medical teams stationed at the facility, with authorities saying there is currently no cause for public alarm.

Humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers said that although several cases were recorded, they remain limited in number relative to the more than 3,000 people processed through the centre.

According to health officials, approximately 10 to 14 cases of diarrhoea were reported, with only a small number requiring hospital treatment for mild symptoms.

Emergency Medical Services personnel remained on site throughout operations to provide continuous medical support and monitoring.

Officials have described the situation as stable and contained, noting that the health concerns observed are consistent with what can occur in high-density temporary facilities.

The repatriation centre, which processed migrants leaving South Africa, has since been closed as operations wind down.
