Early childhood development (ECD) practitioners at Tshatsi Crèche in Langa recently received training from non-profit organisation HeadsUP on identifying and responding to head injuries in young children.

The workshop, held as part of HeadsUP’s Mandela Month outreach programme, focused on concussions, their warning signs, and the importance of seeking medical attention when a child suffers a head injury.

Siyolo “Duke” Mbini, a social auxiliary worker at HeadsUP, said educating caregivers is key to ensuring injuries are identified early and managed before they become more serious.

By equipping ECD practitioners with the right knowledge, HeadsUP aims to create safer spaces for children and reduce preventable brain injuries across communities.
