SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS DESTROYING OUR YOUTH

Substance abuse is becoming one of the biggest challenges facing young people today. More teenagers and young adults are becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol, putting their health, education, and future at risk.

Many young people are introduced to drugs through peer pressure, unemployment, family problems, or the desire to escape difficult situations. What may start as an experiment can quickly become an addiction that affects every part of their lives.

The impact goes beyond the individual. Families are left heartbroken, schools lose promising learners, and communities experience increased crime and violence linked to substance abuse.

This is a problem that cannot be solved by law enforcement alone. Parents, schools, community leaders, and government all have a role to play in educating young people, creating opportunities, and providing support for those struggling with addiction.

Young people also need to understand that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. There are people and organisations ready to support those who want to break free from substance abuse.

The youth is the future. Protecting them from substance abuse is not just a responsibility it is an investment in stronger families, safer communities, and a better South Africa.
