Cape Town Traffic Services has stepped up efforts to hold motorists accountable for unpaid traffic offences, with 16 people arrested for outstanding traffic warrants during a citywide operation.

across Cape Town yesterday as part of the enforcement operation.
The City of Cape Town says the operation is aimed at
ensuring that motorists who have outstanding traffic matters take responsibility
and comply with the law.
The 16 suspects arrested during the operation settled their
outstanding warrants, with a combined value of R110,000.
The enforcement drive forms part of the City's ongoing
efforts to improve compliance with traffic laws and ensure that outstanding
warrants do not remain unresolved.
Cape Town Traffic Services executes an average of 96,000
warrants every year, highlighting the scale of outstanding traffic-related
matters in the city.
City of Cape Town Traffic Services spokesperson Kevin
Jacobs says similar operations will continue as authorities work to strengthen
enforcement and ensure that motorists are held accountable for traffic
offences.
The ongoing operations send a clear message to motorists
that outstanding warrants should not be ignored. Traffic authorities say
enforcement will continue across the city as they work to promote compliance
and safer roads.
For motorists, the operations are also a reminder to keep
their traffic matters in order and address any outstanding warrants before they
result in further legal consequences.
