A 60-year-old woman has died and 13 other people have been injured following a crash involving three minibus taxis on Nelson Mandela Boulevard in Cape Town.
The crash happened on Monday morning at about 7:52am on the inbound side of the road, before Browning Road.
According to Cape Town Traffic Services, the woman was declared dead at the scene. Three other people suffered serious injuries, while 10 people sustained minor injuries.
Videos shared on social media showed several injured people on the roadway following the collision. However, claims about the identities of the passengers and where the taxis came from have not been independently confirmed.
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
The left lane remains obstructed as emergency and traffic officials continue working at the scene. Motorists heading towards the city are urged to drive carefully and expect delays.
The incident remains under investigation.
