A recovery operation is underway at Strand Beach after yesterday's double drowning.
According to NSRI
Station 9 in Gordons Bay, the body of an adult male was discovered early this
morning on Strand Beach, near the Lourens River mouth in the Helderberg Marine
Protected Area.
Police divers, assisted
by NSRI crew EMS paramedics, recovered the body. It has been handed over to
Forensic Pathology Services.

The tragedy unfolded just before 2pm yesterday when a group of men from a local business were at the beach on an off day. One man got difficulty in the water, and two colleagues, a 22-year-old from Belhar and a 39-year-old from Mfuleni, were swept out by rip currents while trying to rescue him; however, he was saved by a local surfer.
The 39-year-old from
Mfuleni was announced deceased. Police are still searching for the remaining
missing man.
