Emergency power plans for Cape Town
Capetonians have again been warned to use electricity sparingly as the city takes desperate steps to try and prevent further blackouts over the next three to nine months. Die Burger reports that Table Mountain will not be lit up at night for the foreseeable future and the city council plans to cement power cables in place to prevent theft. Power stations which have been out of commission for several years, like the gas turbine in Athlone and the power station at Steenberg, are being fired up again.
