Cosatu says it fully supports an appeal by the SA Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers’ Union to the Competition Appeal Commission.
Saccawu are appealing against the Competition Tribunal’s decision earlier this year to approve the acquisition of retail group Massmart by its American counterpart, Walmart.
The appeal will be heard on the 21st and the 22nd of this month.
Cosatu general secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi says if Saccawu does not succeed, conditions must be imposed that address the pre-measure retrenchments.
