Gauteng education MEC Barbara Creecy has appointed former police commissioner George Fivaz to head up an audit of all independent schools.
This follows the revelation that two private church schools on the East Rand run by Reverend Josias Mabasa are in a shocking state, despite the millions in subsidies he received from the department.
Mabasa is expected to appear in court soon after being exposed when he tried to bribe the head of CrimeLine Yusuf Abramjee with millions to cover up how he neglected the pupils’ needs.
