Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle says there is a need for extra vigilance on the country’s roads now that it is school holidays.
Schools across the country are on a week-long Spring break, and Carlisle says this often leads to an increase in the number of fatal accidents on the roads.
He called on motorists to “do their bit” by not speeding, not drinking and driving, and not speaking on their cellphones while behind the wheel.
