A Western Cape man has been sentenced for murdering his girlfriend in a domestic dispute almost two years ago.

The victim’s body was found the next morning in their home in the Rosedale informal settlement in Pacaltsdorp, in June 2020 along with their 6-year-old child, according to police the perpetrator handed himself to the police later that day.

During the trial, he pleaded not guilty, but the court found that he had direct intent to kill the deceased and handed him 15 years' direct imprisonment.
