Teenager succumbs to injuries after being caught in crossfire in Delft

Western Cape police are probing a case of murder after a 15-year-old girl was caught in the crossfire between rival gangs in Delft. The incident happened in front of premises in Spitefire Street, The Hague on Tuesday.

The police’s FC van Wyk said the teenager was walking to the shop when she was caught in the crossfire.

“According to reports SAPS members received a complaint from radio control, and on arrival at the scene they found the victim laying on the ground on her stomach with a gunshot wound to her right shoulder. The victim was walking to the shop when she was caught in the crossfire between rival gangs. The suspect(s) fled the scene on foot. The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for medical attention.’’

‘’We’ve opened an attempted murder case at the time of the incident. She later died in hospital due to injuries sustained.  The attempted murder charge was then changed to murder,’’ added Captain FC van Wyk.
