Elderly man succumbs to stab wounds after intruder enters his Vanguard Estate home

Manenberg police are probing a case of murder after an 85-year-old man succumbed to his injuries, after an intruder stabbed him at his Vanguard Estate home.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.

The police’s Joseph Swartbooi said the elderly man and his wife were woken by strange noises.

‘’When the elderly man went to investigate, an intruder gained entry by smashing the window pane. A scuffle ensued between the victim and the intruder, which resulted in the victim sustaining several stab wounds.’’

‘’The suspect fled the scene in an undisclosed direction and is yet to be arrested. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment where he was declared deceased by medical personnel,’’ added Warrant Officer, Joseph Swartbooi.
